Dr. Wiegartz is a clinical psychologist specializing in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety.  She has well over a decade of experience in treating anxiety-related disorders such as Panic, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety, Phobias, Generalized Anxiety, Trichotillomania (hair pulling) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.  Her specialty, CBT, is a skill-based therapy that has been widely supported by scientific research in the treatment of anxiety.  The goal of CBT is to recognize and modify the thoughts and behavioral patterns that lead to the development and maintenance of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders.   Dr. Wiegartz has been trained in CBT by some of the leaders in the field and is a certified fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.  
   
She began her career at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology.  There she directed the OCD Clinic, taught classes on CBT, supervised new therapists, and maintained a practice dedicated to treating anxiety.  Dr. Wiegartz remains a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of OCD Chicago and is listed on the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.  She has authored numerous research publications and presented widely on topics related to the understanding and treatment of anxiety disorders.  Her first book, 10 SImple Solutions to Worry, has been translated into six languages and is available worldwide.  Her most recent work, The Pregnancy and Postpartum Anxiety Workbook, was published in June 2009 and is the result of her years of experience with diagnosing and treating the anxiety difficulties that face pregnant and new mothers.
  

Dr. Wiegartz is now on faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital where she is the Director of CBT Services and Training.   She is committed to helping anxious individuals learn how to overcome their fears by developing the strategies they need to cope with anxiety and live life comfortably and confidently.  Please contact her for more information or to schedule an appointment:
